ZULEMA GHOHESTANI
Parenting Consultant | Certified Conscious Parenting Practitioner
Conscious Parenting Method
Zulema Ghohestani is a Certified Conscious Parenting Practitioner trained through Dr. Shefali Tsabary’s Conscious Coaching Institute. Her work also draws from neuroscience, child development, attachment, emotional regulation, and executive function research to help parents better understand what is driving their child’s behavior and respond with greater clarity and connection.
Rather than relying solely on traditional discipline strategies, Zulema helps parents examine the relationship between behavior, nervous system regulation, developmental skills, family dynamics, and the parent-child connection. She provides practical strategies families can use to reduce conflict, strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, and create greater emotional safety at home.
Zulema brings more than 13 years of advocacy experience to her work with children and families. She serves as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care and has extensive experience advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her work has also included supporting families navigating blended-family dynamics, separation and divorce, difficult family transitions, and children experiencing emotional, behavioral, or executive-function challenges.
Her work extends beyond individual parent consultation. Zulema provides education and guidance to parents, educators, and other professionals on topics including emotional regulation, executive function, peer dynamics, screen use, co-regulation, and strengthening the adult-child relationship.
Zulema was invited to present to Big Life Journal’s GrowthMinded community, where she led a session for parents, educators, counselors, and helping professionals on children’s emotional regulation and screen-related dysregulation. The session explored the neuroscience behind what can appear to be defiance following screen use and provided practical strategies for understanding nervous system regulation, co-regulation, and the importance of connection before correction. Attendees specifically highlighted her ability to make complex concepts understandable and immediately applicable.
Across her work, Zulema helps parents identify patterns they want to change, understand their own responses during difficult parenting moments, and build relationships with their children that can remain strong through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
As both a mother and advocate, she approaches this work with the belief that meaningful change does not require perfect parenting. It requires awareness, accountability, repair, and a willingness to understand both the child and the adult within the relationship.
The work you do in your relationship with your child today can shape that relationship for a lifetime.
